As the Amtrak-selected National Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS) Contractor, IDS has teamed with Amtrak to design and build ADA-Compliant Audio/Visual PIDS at numerous facilities in Amtrak's National Network. The new PIDS features automated updates from Amtrak's National Network, equivalent audio/visual messaging in the station and on the train platforms, and the integration of live train information and prioritized visual messages.

Washington Dulles International Airport was in the midst of an expansion of domestic and international gates, as well as routing increased passenger traffic. IDS met their needs with a flexible solution that allowed displays to be used for FIDS, visual paging or Wayfinding. Additionally, new displays were added at strategic transit entry and exit points, ticket counters, and at the new train station platforms.

As part of their "Terminal Renovation", the MUFIDS upgrade features two new 19' x 13' Daktronics LED signs used as Departure Directory boards, as well as new network backbone, interfaces with multiple airline networks, local airline thin client workstations, FAA arrivals status data feeds, automated telephone and website interfaces, area hotel links, Wayfinding curbside LED signage, and 120 flight and baggage information displays.

Virginia Railway Express

IDS provided an ADA-Compliant audio visual messaging system at 18 commuter train stations serving 17,000 passengers daily. New LCD displays feature easy-to-read large font with train information on lines 1 & 2, and additional train, emergency or general information messaging beneath or in rotation. The 2009/2010 upgrade of Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport's (MSY) FIDS/BIDS/GIDS features 150 Samsung 40" LCDs with efficient on-board XPe controllers. These displays are mounted to low profile decorative Profile One FIDS fabrications. Interfaces include multiple airline networks, local airline/airport workstations, FAA status data feeds, telephone IVRS, MSY website, Transportation Safety Administration content, and area hotels and attractions.

The IDS MUFIDS and PA System at the Mobile Regional Airport features a Peavey ControlMatrix-based PA System with 28 paging stations, delayed paging, courtesy announcements, and text-to-speech. The PA System included replacement of all input microphones, amplifiers/mixers, audio messages/tables, Operator Workstations, and numerous speakers.

IDS provided the FIDS/BIDS/GIDS/Clock System (Circa 1993-1995) included over 1550 Sony CRTs, 600 LED signs, 200 Clocks, 66 Distribution PCs, and operated over the airports Four LANs connected via the central and redundant FDDI Ring. It was necessary for IDS to integrate our displays into millwork and static signage produced by four different signage vendors (i.e., one for each terminal building). IDS commissioned this System and maintained the same for three (3) years with a full-time staff operating AM/PM shifts 7x24x365.

IDS provided the FIDS, BIDS, Clocks, Visual Paging, and PA System Core Interface Components, including the IED ACS500 PA System. IDS was responsible for creating, distributing, and synchronizing the audio/visual playback of all English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Local Dialects.
